Esquisse 2020

I called this wine “Esquisse” (a sketch or outline) because, one, that was basically what it was when we planted Roussanne in 1999 , and two, I wanted one of my grandfather’s sketches on the label.

Macabeu gives the floral notes, White Grenache the freshness. The Roussanne variety provides the fresh fruit aromas that I am particularly fond of, such as apricot and peach, but also liveliness on the palate, the final balance being achieved by Burgundy-style ageing on lees.
